Saturday, February 1 is the third annual
“Take Your Child to the Library Day”.
Children’s librarians across the country have teamed up to encourage families to bring their children to the library on February 1, 2014. This is the third annual Take Your Child to the Library Day, a concept created by Nadine Lipman, a children’s librarian in Waterford, Connecticut. Sharon Colvin, chair of the Massachusetts Library Association Youth Services Section, says that “this is a great opportunity to encourage both existing library patrons and new families to bring their children to the library.”
We are celebrating Take Your Child to the Library Day by having a special craft program for children from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. We will be making Valentines. Refreshments will be served, so drop in for some fun! While you’re here check out our great collection of books, DVD’s, CD’s or sign up for our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program, or get your child a library card. The Library will be open from 10:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m. on February 1 and families are encouraged to stop in anytime during the day even if they can’t make the scheduled activities.
